Dana White wants to make the Tony Ferguson vs Khabib Nurmagomedov fight.

However, the UFC president said a mega fight between the Russian and the legendary Georges St-Pierre is not off the table either.

Nurmagomedov is a perfect 28-0 and the lightweight champion of the world, with Ferguson perhaps being the only top name he is yet to conquer.

It’s the fight that makes sense to White and UFC fans alike, but the boss also acknowledges the difficulties of making it happen previously.

Speaking to TMZ Sports, he said: “Tony Ferguson is the fight that needs to happen.

“We’ve tried to do it four other times, so hopefully we can get it done this time. But that’s the fight that makes sense.”

St-Pierre retired from MMA earlier this year in part due to the UFC’s reluctance to give him a super fight with Nurmagomedov.

That is known to be the preferred option in the Russian’s camp, even before Ferguson.

Although White clearly wants Ferguson in that spot, he is now open to making the GSP fight, too.

“That can happen, too,” he added. “We’ll see what happens with Tony. Tony’s had opportunities before that he didn’t take, so if he doesn’t, then I would be interested in talking about GSP.”
