Three Bordeaux academy players have been suspended after they attacked one of their teammates to leave him ‘seriously’ injured.
According to ESPN, the incident occurred on September 30 at the training ground and all the players involved are 16.
“We are supporting our injured player and will be alongside him through this tough time,” the club said in a statement.
“We have reacted immediately to this incident and have suspended three players while we lead our investigation.”
The report states the incident occurred after tensions mounted behind the scenes following Bordeaux Under-17s defeat to Nantes two days earlier.
