Granit Xhaka future: Arsenal midfielder to leave on loan in January with AC Milan and Inter Milan fighting for his signature – reports

Granit Xhaka will reportedly leave Arsenal on loan in January.

The midfielder has not featured since telling Arsenal fans to ‘f*** off’ in an angry outburst while being substituted against Crystal Palace last month.

Xhaka was stripped of the captaincy for his outburst at the booing Arsenal supporters by manager Unai Emery.

And he could be heading out of the Emirates Stadium when the window opens on January 1.

Sky Germany claim city rivals AC Milan and Inter will fight it out for the loan signature of the Switzerland international, 27.

It is understood the deal would be with a view to making it permanent at the end of the season.

He issued an apology to Arsenal fans after the incident but his days at the club appear numbered.

Xhaka has also been linked with a move to Premier League club Newcastle, which would see him link up with Switzerland teammate Fabian Schar.

Schar leapt to his international teammate’s defence shortly after the incident, claiming Xhaka is a ‘very good guy’.

Schar said: “I played with him for years and I know how he is as a person.

“He’s doing everything for Arsenal, which is why he’s captain.

“He’s a very good guy and people aren’t seeing this.”

Gunners boss Emery admits he’s unsure about Xhaka’s future at the club.

Emery said: “As a coach I have a responsibility for the team.

“We need a player like Xhaka. But also, I don’t know if he’s going to play (for us) again.”
