Mikel Arteta is ‘not expecting many things’ from Arsenal during the January transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with several players already but they have made no movements so far.
Arteta, who was appointed by the club last month, gave an update on the current situation following his side’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
He told talkSPORT: “At the moment there is nothing coming up. The club is working on a few things but you know how difficult this window is and I’m not expecting many things.”
Part of the problem the Gunners could face is a lack of transfer funds available following their significant outlay in the summer, where they signed Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz, Kieran Tierney, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli.
They are in need of extra cover at centre-back, though, following the serious injury suffered by Calum Chambers. The defender sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury and has been ruled out for the season.
Arsenal have been linked with Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng, who reportedly wants to leave the club this winter.
RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano and Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti have also been strongly linked with moves to the Emirates.
