European football’s governing body will hold an emergency meeting on Tuesday to discuss the future of both competitions, as well as Euro 2020.

AS report UEFA are drawing up a plan to complete the two club tournaments in a ‘final four’ format with the semi-finals and final of each competition being contested in a single city over a four-day period.

Istanbul and Gdansk, which are hosting the Champions League and Europa League finals respectively, would be the cities for the events.

UEFA must also decide on how to conclude the round-of-16 ties of both competitions and then organise the quarter-finals.

The report further states the last-eight matches are likely to be played in a single game format, either at a neutral venue or a draw to give one side home advantage.

By reducing the final stages of the competitions to just a four day period, it would allow time for domestic competitions to be completed.

Football across Europe has largely been suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League has been put on hold until at least April 4 after Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for COVID-19.

11 players in Italy’s Serie A have also tested positive for coronavirus while dozens of other sporting events across the globe have been postponed or cancelled.
